Zeitgeist, 11/11/11, the End of the World as We Know it and Holiday Specials!!!!!!
Dear Ones,
As another calendar year draws to a close I am amazed at how many sources are calling for we humans to make a huge leap in consciousness or face self-destruction!!!! Fear seems to be rampant. Even our more conservative friends know about the Mayan prophecy – but what do they really know??? – the sensationalism of the media telling us that the world is going to end in 2012????
These "sit ins" that are occurring in major cities around the world are apparently our young people crying out for all of us humans to take better care of our home – Mother Earth. It is a call to engage in sustainable practices, to care for each other and share with each other. At least that's what I got from my first watching of the movie Zeitgeist: Moving Forward – a kind of documentary about the state of the environment on our planet and how we could improve the quality of life for everyone just by beginning with the notion that everything we do has the potential to impact on everyone.
Over the years that I have been blessed to work with essences I have learned some amazing notions from Mother Nature as I've hiked through the rain forest or sat beside a plant and listened to its gift, or swam with the dolphins and the turtles. And I am still in awe that these beings are so generous and forgiving that they come forth annually to bless us with their healing gifts.
As 2011 draws to a close I invite each and everyone of you to write down one gift from Mother Earth for which you are grateful. Let it be something as simple as a sunrise or the fragrance of your favourite flower. Create a book or a little box called GRATITUDE and put this 'note to yourself' in it. If the spirit moves you, you can add to this list over the next year. And each time you take an essence be really conscious of the resonance it is offering you. So for example if you are taking Chickweed focus on the resonance of Present – the gift of being here now. If it's Forsythia, write down and put your attention on Motivation. You can find all these correlations from the link on the front page of our website under Essence Repertory.
This is an invitation to re-train your mind to look for the light in the darkness and to be mindful of your daily life choices and how they impact on the whole.
At 11/11/11 we entered into a new frequency on the planet. Traditionally 33 has been the number of 'Christ consciousness' – the vibration of 'doing unto others as we would have them do unto us'. For me it is the number of heightened awareness and mindfulness about how to sustain myself with the full consciousness that I am part of the Whole (like a wave on the Ocean) and that everything I think and do has impact on the Whole. The essences are here to help us!!!!! They are not here necessarily to "fix" us but to cultivate the light that already exists in all living things including we humans.
So as this year draws to a close I invite you again to engage in a daily practice – the Gratitude Box or Book and to consider the possibility of taking one essence every day – not with the intention of fixing something you perceive to be wrong but with the goal of 'becoming more of who you can be" and making a difference in the home we share.
With infinite love and unlimited blessings
Sabina

Discovering What Abundance Really Is For You
by Jamie Morris
Greetings, Abundant Friends,
Well, now I can truly say I know what "abundance" looks like in my life! But I'm not going to show it to you just yet. I'm going to make you guess!
- Do you picture a pile of gold coins in a leprechaun's cauldron at the end of the rainbow?
- Maybe you see my savings account balance registering a nice, fat number with a line of zeros after it.
- Are you imagining a shiny, new car for me? How about a swimming pool?
- A new wardrobe--complete with expensive jewelry?
- Or is it LOVE you're thinking of? A Prince Charming come to whisk my cares away?
While all of those would be lovely, and I'd be grateful for any one of them, what my greatest abundance looks like this week is the manifestation of a life-long dream.
For years, I've pictured myself standing in front of a small (enthralled, engaged) audience talking about some topic in which I have so much expertise that I don't need to consult my notes. My comfort level with my material is so complete, in my imagination, that I can speak freely and create impactful examples to convey my meaning to every person in the room.
In my long-held image, I am dressed simply, all in black, but gesturing largely as I connect with the men and women seated in front of me. There is such a dynamic energy flowing between us that my presentation feels more like a dance than it does a lecture.
And most of all, in this vision from a possible future, I am glowing--with joy, with interest, with the sheer pleasure of the moment.
"Vision from a possible future," I just wrote. Except, now, it is a MEMORY OF A RECENT EXPERIENCE--and that, which I described in the lines above, is EXACTLY what abundance looks like in my life.
Five years ago, a woman happened to attend a one-hour workshop I gave at a local writing event. Last year, that same woman contacted me--out of the blue, it seemed--and asked if I would drive across the state to teach a half-day workshop to her non-profit "life-writing" organization. "Of course," I said--and was flattered that they would think to pay me!
After that workshop, she asked if I would create a two-day workshop, not for the WRITERS in her (large) organization, but, rather for the WORKSHOP LEADERS. In other words, would I teach her teachers what I know about leading writing workshops
And now we get to the abundance/fulfilled lifelong dream: While I've been teaching writing independently and successfully for close to ten years, I'm much more interested in the process of the teaching than I am in the content that I teach.
In other words, I love to talk about HOW I teach more than WHAT I teach. Since I'm good at what I do--and teach using some unconventional methods--I've always felt that I could be a valuable resource for other teachers of writing. But no one has seemed interested in giving me an opportunity to test that theory--until now.
For the past two days, I've been in Tampa, Florida, leading a workshop for fifteen writing workshop leaders with a specific focus on helping them improve their approaches to critiquing the work of the writers under their tutelage.
For the past two days, dressed simply, all in black, I've stood in front of a small (enthralled, engaged) audience talking about a topic--teaching writing--in which I have so much expertise that I didn't ONCE need to consult my notes. Instead, I spoke freely and fully, creating impactful examples to convey my meaning, until the energy flowing between my audience and me felt more like a dance than a lecture.
And, yes, I was glowing--with joy, with interest, with the sheer pleasure of the moment.
After years of holding an image in my mind, of checking my various experiences against that image, I've finally found the perfect fit. It's been a long journey and one that I wasn't sure I'd ever fully complete. But I have--and it's every bit as wonderful as I believed it would be.
I'm a teacher. I need to teach. And now, I've found my way to the people that need me to teach them.
There was no rainbow in the sky as I drove across the state to Tampa. But, boy, I sure found a pot of gold when I arrived.
Abundance 101: What vision do you hold for your "future happiness"? What steps can you take TODAY to create that vision?
